Creating Objects

You create objects in the Create window. These objects may be edited: moved, resized, cut, copied, or pasted (see Editing Objects below). Also, the objects that you create have certain characteristics that can be modified via inspectors that are loaded into the Inspector panel that appears along with every open Create document. It is through these inspectors that you are able to control object characteristics such as color, line width, fill, rotation and various other effects.

For more information on how to use the various inspectors to edit object characteristics please see Inspectors in Chapter 4.
Straight Line
To draw a vertical or horizontal line, click on the Straight Line tool and position the cursor (a crosshair) where you want the line to begin. Then, click and drag the cursor in the direction you want the line to go. As long as the mouse button is held down, the line can be lengthened or shortened and its direction can be changed from vertical to horizontal. To finish the line, release the mouse button. You may extend or shorten the line after you have created it by grabbing one of the handles with the Selection tool.

Line
To draw a line at any angle, click on the Line tool then click at the starting point and drag to the ending point of the line. As long as you hold the mouse button down, you can lengthen or shorten the line or change its direction. To finish the line, release the mouse button. If you want to change the direction of the line after you've created it, choose the Selection tool and grab the handle on one end of the line. You may then change both the direction and length of the line.
