Text Kerning Controls
To control spacing between characters in your text, use the Text Kerning controls. Adjusting the spacing between adjacent pairs of characters to achieve a visually pleasing result is called kerning. To activate the kerning option, click on the Use button. On the left, without kerning, the letters look awkwardly far apart. You can do track kerning, where you adjust the spacing of a group of characters, or pair kerning, where you adjust the spacing between two characters, as on the right:

For track kerning, select the characters you want to kern in the Text Entry field.

For pair kerning, either select a pair of characters in the text entry field or place the text cursor between the two characters you want to kern.

Now you can set the kern amount by either clicking on the left or right arrow buttons or entering an amount directly into the text field and pressing the Return key. Each button click changes the kern amount by 1 point. The left arrow button brings the letters closer together by decreasing the letter spacing; the right arrow button makes the letters further apart by increasing the letter spacing. As you click the buttons, the characters will move further apart or closer together in the
Create window.

Hint: Large letter spacing can form elegant text:
